The Role

As a Health and Safety Supervisor you will be responsible for the following duties related to mineral sand operations:

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform safety audits and evaluations, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and implement site-specific health and safety plans, including emergency response strategies.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders on health and safety matters.
  • Track and analyze safety performance metrics, providing regular updates to management.
  • Identify potential hazards related to mineral sands operations and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Lead training sessions and safety briefings to enhance employee awareness and engagement.

Key Criteria

A Successful Operational Health and Safety Supervisor will have the following criteria:

  • Strong understanding of health and safety management systems and risk assessment methodologies, particularly in the mining or mineral sands sector.
  • Relevant qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a health and safety supervisory role within mineral sands or similar operations.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective training and reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to safety management.
