Job description

Role Opportunity:
Mining Superintendent to assist other leaders in managing their teams' daily operations. Reporting directly to the Mining Manager and serving as their back to back during alternating rostered shifts, this position will be 8/6 FIFO schedule and focuses on a critical mineral sands project in Western Australia.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A valid Quarry Manager Ticket is a key requirement for this role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience with the Mines Safety and Inspection Act are crucial.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing high-performing mining teams.
  • A solid understanding of mine planning and compliance is vital for success in this role.
  • Familiarity with operating a dozer fleet and mobile mining units is highly preferred.
  • While prior experience in mineral sands operations is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior leadership and oversight of site-based dry-mining operations, land clearing, and rehabilitation to ensure alignment with company performance goals. Operations must integrate smoothly with processing activities while offering necessary support services.
  • Exhibit outstanding safety leadership at all times.
  • Oversee contract execution within the delegated authority of the General Manager, Operations, and Mining Manager.
  • Approve costs and ensure the timely completion of progress reporting.
  • Manage contractors and vendors within the Mining Department as required.
  • Develop and implement operational plans, systems, and procedures to efficiently execute daily mining activities in line with strategic goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Regularly review the practicality and feasibility of the mine plan.
  • Achieve KPIs related to safety, environmental compliance, sustainability, production, commercial performance, team management, and governance.
  • Plan and optimize mining and processing techniques, grade control, equipment use, and maintenance strategies to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including sales and marketing, plant operations, technical services, asset management, procurement, HR, finance, legal, and other support teams.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-performing culture rooted in integrity, trust, courage, respect, and a commitment to excellence.
