We are seeking a Senior Cost Engineer to join the Major Projects Team for a large Lithium client on the owner's side of high-value projects. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing capital estimates and cost control across a portfolio of projects, including those with capital expenditures exceeding $250M. You will be responsible for overseeing cost controls and estimates, ensuring alignment with project standards and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead capital estimates and cost control for major projects, ensuring alignment with project standards.
- Implement cost control strategies in line with team direction.
- Manage cost processes using CMS (GTS software).
- Compile and review estimates, including MTOs, rates, and range analysis.
- Control project budgets, handling scope changes and costs per board-approved guidelines.
- Reconcile end-of-month costs and accruals between CMS and SAP.
- Review contractor progress claims (PPCs) and assist with invoice approvals.
- Support preparation of weekly summaries and monthly portfolio reports.
Key Criteria
- Proven experience working on major projects (+$250M capital) in the mining or resource industry, preferably on the owner's side.
- Extensive knowledge and experience across multiple projects in a portfolio.
- Expertise in AACE Estimate Class 2 to 5 accuracy levels and the ability to compile/review these estimates.
- Proficiency in CMS (GTS software), SAP, and commercially available estimating software.
- Strong understanding of cost control processes, capital estimates, and project forecasting.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
