Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Extensive experience in mechanical engineering for iron ore Brownfields projects within the mining sector
- Proven expertise in chute design, conveyor systems, and material handling
- Strong experience with 3D modelling software
- Knowledge of vendor data review, shop drawings, and material verification
- Demonstrated ability to oversee the installation of mechanical systems on-site
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on troubleshooting and practical solutions during installation and commissioning
- Knowledge of Australian mining safety standards and relevant regulations
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review vendor data (including technical specifications, drawings, and material certifications) to ensure all components meet the project design requirements
- Confirm material procurement aligns with project specifications, ensuring correct quantities and materials are ordered
- Review 3D models to verify designs and ensure integration with existing systems, avoiding clashes during installation
- Verify shop drawings and fabrication details for correct tolerances, materials, and welding specifications
- Oversee the procurement process to ensure timely delivery of parts and components for installation
- Provide on-site supervision during shutdowns to ensure systems are installed according to specifications
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during installation, ensuring minimal downtime
